During the initial conceptual design of a new appliance the team of product designers and engineers at Ikon guide themselves by four key concepts that must be adhered to with all our products: Reliability, Performance, Function and Style.
During the development of an Ikon product, many prototypes are created and destroyed, for every model that is accepted into the Ikon range, it has most likely had several prototypes made beforehand. Once created it is placed into selected working kitchens where feedback is given to the team on its performance and functionality and only after constant refinement, stress testing and of course, safety testing will it carry the Ikon brand and be made available to our customers.
The second essential factor that makes Ikon products unique is the belief that after sales service is as vital, if not more important than the initial purchase of a product. Ikon Commercial has always undertaken to fully train its nationwide network of service technicians on new products before releasing them to the public. This has resulted in highly skilled technicians that have a thorough understanding of any Ikon product long before the rare event that service is needed. Combine this with minimum stock levels of spare parts totalling hundreds of thousands of dollars and it becomes apparent that the company is totally dedicated to the creation of a long term relationship with its customers.
Every product that leaves our premises undergoes what is arguably some of the most strict quality control testing standards within the industry. Every appliance regardless of size is checked not only for 'finish' quality but also vigorous checks are carried out on the products functionality. For example every oven is hard wired into cabinetry simulating a typical installation, all electronics are thoroughly examined by hand as well as machine and every thermostat is calibrated to ensure optimum performance in the customers home. In addition products also undergo 'Selected Batch Destructive Testing', this entails taking a sample of products at random times and checking them to the point of destruction. Sophisticated devices stress test every component of the appliance, whether it is a complicated piece of circuitry that undergoes tests well outside its normal operating environment (voltage, temperature, moisture, humidity etc.) or a humble switch that is tested to simulate the equivalent of ten years worth of switching on and off. Everything is tested to its limits, once the tests are completed the product is stripped to its individual components and recycled to ensure minimum effects on the environment. These are just a few examples of the tests done above and beyond the manufacturers own strict quality control procedures.
The underlying philosophy of Ikon is simple: For the team at Ikon, the benchmark of success is when our customers come back and our products don't.
